The Immaculate Reception: Even Bigger Than I Thought

Yeah, I know, it’s been a little football heavy here lately at Pipeline. Bear with us.

Further to our discussion of great bizarre football plays, I’d like to post this nice summary of the Immaculate Reception. The catch itself isn’t as important as the game situation, that it was 4th and 10 and the season was on the line, that Bradshaw had to run for his life before just heaving it down the middle of the field. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more freakish ending to a game, especially because it wasn’t a trick play. It was a freak, fluke play in every sense of the word.
