If the reports are true, it’s the end of an era for the Timberwolves, as they appear to have struck a deal to move Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics. As for KG, more power to him. I’ll root for him, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to all play in their first finals together next season. As for the Wolves, it is what it is. They need young talent and future flexibility, and this gives them both. The team next year will be young, athletic, and hungry, which may or may not translate to wins but is still better to watch than old, out-gunned and watching the window you held open for 10 years slam shut.
The Kevin Garnett Era may be over here, but the Adrian Peterson Era began today as well. Well, yesterday, technically, but the point remains that one era ends and another begins, and that has a kind of comforting rhythm about it.
Of course, it could be that the Adrian Peterson Era will turn out to be anything but comforting. His collarbones could both explode on his first hand-off, and then the Vikings will have lost the #7 pick on an injury risk. Which would be a sucky Era, but an Era nonetheless.
Also, because the Twins dealt Luis Castillo to the Mets today, the Luis Castillo Era (version 1.0) is officially over, and the Alexi Casilla Era has officially begun.
You heard it here first. The Alexi Casilla Era has officially begun.
