If, like me, you’ve found that attending wine tasting classes and adopting the care-free lifestyle of agnosticism aren’t quite enough to get you over the hump to becoming gay, you can always check out Hyperbole’s find on where to learn about the best gay bands.
My question is this: If merely talking about sex in sex education classes makes kids want to have sex, then isn’t talking about homosexuality enough to make people want to be homosexuals? And if so, doesn’t that make the kind of person who keeps an exhaustive list of gay bands extremely likely to be gay themselves? Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’m just sayin’. And I also need to take issue with some of the bands on the list. I mean, Audioslave and many other bands listed don’t strike me as being overtly or inherently “gay”. Do these people listen to a band’s work and think, “Boy, that one really made me want to pump some rump, even more than usual!” Again, not that there’s anything wrong with throwing on some Ravi Shankar and riding the baloney pony with the guy you picked up at the gay record store.
As an aside, I want to acknowledge one of our society’s many debts to Seinfeld. Of all the things that show gave us, none can be greater than “Not that there’s anything wrong with that”, the perfect enabling reference that allows us to maintain comfortable PC distance while still providing access to gay-themed comments.
